Pumpkin Pillow - Free C2C Crochet pattern
It’s October so at least one pumpkin related design is obligatory right?
Well this year its a cosy Pumpkin Pillow! Someone told me this design looked like a graphic from a NES and I quite like that comparison
There’s quite a lot of colour changes in this one so its great for those confident with corner to corner crochet, or those who have a little experience and love a challenge!
Please refer to my previous blog post for a full tutorial on C2C crochet
This pattern is provided in US and UK terms
This pillow is worked in two square halves and seamed together. The first half should be worked as per the chart below and the second should be a single colour block of the same dimensions in your preferred colour
Stitches:
This pattern uses only double crochet - dc (tr UK) and slip stitch - sl st
Yarn:
Burnt orange, Orange, Sage green, Cream
You will need less than. 100g of each dk colour
Hook:
4mm hook (or hook size needed to obtain gauge)
Gauge:
1 5*5 section of C2C = 3 inch square
The C2C section:
Complete the C2C section of the blanket using the chart below.
You’ll need to turn your work between rows. Make sure when reading the pattern that you read the rows in alternating directions. i.e. row two from bottom left to top right, row three from top right to bottom left, row four from bottom left to top right etc
Even rows will be worked with the wrong side facing you and odd rows will be worked with the right side facing you
Make sure any trailing threads from colour changes are kept to the wrong side of your work
Starting with the cream yarn at the bottom right corner work increase rows until row 27
From row 28 onwards work decrease rows until you reach the top right corner of the chart and have a completed square
Once you have completed the charted square and an additional plain square (for the reverse of the pillow) seam them together around all 4 edges
Changing Colour:
Whilst working the last C2C block before the colour change
For last dc (tr) yarn over, insert hook into black below and pull up loop as normal, yarn over, pull through two
At the this point join in your next colour and with the new colour yarn over and pull through two loops to finish off the previous block
And there you have it! The perfect autumn cushion decorate your home with and show off your crochet skills!
